Headlands Center for the Arts

At Headlands Center for the Arts, you get a chance to gain new
perspective on your world, and new ways to stretch your mind
and challenge traditional ways of seeing. Even if you live outside
the Bay Area you can be a part of Headlands. The main building
of Headlands Center for the Arts, 944 Fort Barry, is available
to organizations and individuals to rent for meetings, classes,
or special events on an hourly or daily basis. It is suitable
for retreats, training sessions, weddings and/or parties of up
to 200 people. Headlands Center for the Arts is an interdisciplinary
Artist Residency Program located in the coastal hills of the
Marin Headlands by the Pacific Ocean. Building 944, a 1907 former
military barracks, has been renovated through commissions to
major American artists into unique functional spaces that reflect
the history and architecture of the structure. It consists of
large, open rooms with abundant natural light, maple floors and
tin ceilings. The kitchen is equipped with a full size, professional
Wolf range, double oven, and generous counter and preparation
space. The adjacent Mess Hall seats up to 135 people. Seating
in the second floor meeting rooms is flexible and can accommodate
small groups as well as large, theater-like arrangements. Headlands
does not rent its spaces for public performances or fundraisers
sponsored by other organizations. The site, located just 15 minutes
north of San Francisco in the Golden Gate National Recreation
Area of the Marin Headlands, Headlands offers easy access to
hiking along coastal trails and beaches, ample parking and overnight
accommodations at the nearby Headlands Hostel. |
